To turn on automatic Windows XP updates:
1. Right click on 'My Computer.'
2. Select 'Properties.'
3. Click on the 'Automatic Updates' tab.  
4. Click the circle beside 'Automatic (recommended)'.
5. Set the frequency for 'Every day' at a time when you know your pc
   will be on and connected to the internet.

To turn off automatic Windows XP updates:    
1. Right click on 'My Computer.'
2. Select 'Properties.'
3. Click on the 'Automatic Updates' tab.
4. Click the circle beside "Turn off Automatic Updates".

To manually apply Windows XP updates:
1.  Run Internet Explorer.
2.  Drop down the 'Tools' menu and select 'Windows Upate'.
    (You may need to update the update program before you can update
    the operating system. Carefully read what's on your display.)
3.  Use the 'Express' installation option, and take ONLY the High Priority
    updates.
4.  Wait while updates are downloaded and installed.
5.  You may need to reboot your computer for the updates to take effect.
