How to Deal with Email Attachements using Pine

Receiving an Email Message with an Attachement
1. View the mail message.

2. When you come to the attachement you will see something like this:

 [ Part 2, "security.doc" Application/MSWORD 33KB. ]
[ Cannot display this part. Press "V" then "S" to save in a file. ]

3. As directed, press "V" then "S". You will have the opportunity to
change the path and name if you need to.

4. Open an ftp window. Using F-Secure SSH client 5.2, drop down the
'Window' menu and select 'New File Transfer'.

5. You will be presented with a window of your UNIX directory tree. Double
click on the attachement that you just saved as a file, and it will be
opened by the proper pc program.

6. You can now read, edit, and save the program to your pc.

Sending an Email Message with an Attachement
1. Type 'c' from within pine. Fill in the 'To:' and 'Subject:' lines.

2. Open an ftp window. Using F-Secure SSH client 5.2, drop down the
'Window' menu and select 'New File Transfer'.

3. In the 'File Transfer' window, drop down the 'Operation' menu and
   select 'Upload...'

4. You will be presented with a window to your pc files. Find and select
the file you wish to attach to your email message. Click the 'Upload'
button. The file will be copied to your UNIX directory. Click the
'Close' button and exit from the 'File Transfer' window.

5. Return to your pine session and fill in the 'Attchmnt:' field with the
name of the file you just transferred. If there are spaces in the file
name, you will need to surround the name with double quotes.

6. Fill in the body of the 'Message Text' and send it.
