                        Beware of the Spyware

Recent articles in the computing trade journals have indicated that
spyware will be the next big problem facing users and companies.

"Betting on the future," on Network World's web site has the dire
prediction that "it [spyware] will make spam and viruses look, at best,
second-rate threats and cause lost productivity on a scale so great that
we will have to change the way we communicate."

This article may sound like the result of someone's panic attack,
but, if we are catching this early enough, the impact of spyware can be
controlled by a modicum of awareness and action.

The Aging Center's IT staff has created a web page that lists signs
of spyware infestation, tips on avoiding spyware and two programs that we
recommend that you use to scan your computers for spyware. You can find
this valuable info at: How to Combat Spyware.
